1. Do you have same day appointments?
Yes, we aim to address concerns in a timely fashion, and our schedule is adjusted according to the demand of the season.
2. Where do your overflow patients go?
We'll try our best to accommodate your request to be seen because we value your trust and confidence in us; and please realize there may be some waiting time when there's an overflow of patients.
3. What happens when you go on vacation? Do you have a partner?
This is a solo practice. Vacation coverage is usually by an onsite locum pediatrician.
4. We have our regular doctors over the hills; can we come for sick visits?
Our office is set up to be a primary care office, not an urgent care clinic; thus we recommend patients who do not get regular care with us go to their own doctors. This is mainly for patient's safety as your regular doctor would have complete medical file and be better informed to make a medical decision.
5. What if my child needs medical attention or I need to leave a message after hours?
If it is a medical emergency, please call 911. Otherwise, please call the office mainline, 650-560-9137, to leave a message, non-urgent text message to 650-868-5923, and 1-877-337-3201 for a triage nurse. The Triage nurse is capable of providing health advice and referring you to the proper location for care if needed.
Dr. Lu participates in a call pool with seven other pediatricians in the area to answer your questions, take emergency room calls, and take care of your child in the unfortunate event of hospitalization. We refer our patients to After Hour Pediatrics for most of the urgent care needs.
